I went to the surgery for a double appointment. Firstly for tests with the Health Care Assistant and then to see my doctor. She did an ECG, blood pressure, height, weight, and blood tests. Then there were the questions about life style. Then back into the waiting area until the doctor called me in for a general checkup and more questions. So far so good. Then volunteer driver and friend took me for a McMuffin meal as I had fasted for twelve hours and needed coffee and breakfast. Very yummy!

Late night, early morning. So I thought as l am still up that l would write on here now. I don’t know where summer went it just seems to be downpours and not always very warm neither. Oh well!

It must be so scary to be in a country with wild fires getting closer. Absolutely terrifying!

The prices people are paying for their rent and mortgage are astronomical. It’s hardly surprising people are getting desperate. And the price of food seems like double. Really awful!

Oh the relief after the chiropodist has cut my toe nails because as I got older they became more and more difficult to do myself. My scissors no longer capable of getting through them and get into the nooks and crannies especially as they are ingrown. Much better to get a professional!

Something that I have thought about for many years and is still beyond my understanding is the various rituals by the different religions. I don’t really understand the reason for them – what are they supposed to be for or achieve. Perhaps it’s something like the ancient offerings to the gods… I have no idea! Perhaps it’s ‘if you do this you will get that’.. I don’t know! I used to make the ‘sign of the cross’ but I never knew what that was about.

Out for the count last night and only just woken up. It’s a very long time since I slept so late.

I couldn’t sleep as I was wondering how the three by-elections were going to turn out. So I ended up coming back downstairs and watching on the television. The three largest parties in England got one each. Time now for that mug of coffee to sort me out.

I have on my sitting room mantelpiece what we call my two booby pots. My dear friend made them for me – a true artist. There have been statues of the naked form going right back to Ancient Greece and Rome and before all over the world and l treasure them.

A woman who was jailed for taking abortion pills much later in her pregnancy has had her sentence reduced and she has now been freed from jail. Thank goodness for that. I still believe in a woman’s right to choose although this late in pregnancy is not ideal. She was probably desperate – it was during lockdown. Things like this are very rare.
