Another year nearly done. Definitely the most painful ending that I’ve ever known. Hopefully the pain will subside in the not too distant future.

I managed to get the number of a pharmacist who advised me regarding the new slow release morphine l started taking yesterday. I have had to take two types of morphine until my new capsules kick in tomorrow. Hopefully all will be much better after that.

I have been struggling all day. Had an appointment over the phone with the GP. She has written me up for some longer lasting morphine tablets which I will start tomorrow. Hopefully things might be better after that.

I have had a busy day today. From friendly visits from friends both old and new and an Occupational Therapist too. He was very thorough not only about fittings for the bath which should lower me down etc but also things like how I do the walk to the bathroom and back. Something so trivial can be so difficult…

I reduced my dose of Oramorph (liquid morphine) from 3.75ml down to 3 ml but I don’t feel in any hurry to reduce it further without advice. Although it was one of the carers who asked me if I was reducing it yet? But I have a doctor’s appointment coming up soon. My chest really hurts.

I’m feeling a lot more optimistic this morning. I haven’t been able to wear a bra for a little while because it hurt my fracture but this morning I tried out a sports bra and, so far, I think it’s a good move. But I will wait and see!

It looks horrible outside – very foggy. I have been up for a while. I assume that it is fog and not the houses on fire nearby. But the latter there would be a commotion l believe.

The male carer will be here any minute and he is going to help me with a hair wash over the kitchen sink. I am very nervous about this.

So I am up, dressed, unwashed, half fed. I took my painkillers over half an hour ago. It will take quite a bit longer before there’s any pain relief. Probably another dose of pain killer around 11.30.
