Still taking the tablets…

Jesse Stone

A good friend came yesterday which was a Bank Holiday. We watched the first episode of Jesse Stone which I had recorded – she doesn’t have the channel – whilst we had a gin and tonic and nibbles. It was a real treat!

Hurricane Ida

It must be terrifying living with something like Hurricane Ida which is raging in Southern USA. Severe weather is not new to this region but there do seem to be more of them these days.

Shameful!

So we have now left Afghanistan leaving all those people, some of whom helped us, to their fate at the hands of the Taliban. It is shameful!

Please

The situation in Afghanistan is so upsetting. What will become of all those poor people is dreadful to think about which, of course, we have to do. I watch the News wishing for a little glimmer of hope… please.

Final stages

We are now in the final stages so no further people will be called forward by the UK at Kabul airport for evacuation. They will only be able to evacuate those already processed which will give them space to get out the remaining diplomats and military personnel.

Really broke

I am really broke. Hopefully I won’t have any extra outgoings for awhile although there is always the regular payments. Hopefully the roof will hold out for a bit.and longer.

Ugh!

It looks like everyone who has to leave Afghanistan must be out by August 31st which means many might be left behind. Ugh!

Billy Connolly

It was really great to see Billy Connolly on the BBC this morning. He is really quite poorly now but I still see him as the funniest person on TV. Not many people make me laugh but he always does. Besides the humour there is a lot of love there. Love for humanity.

A booster

I am booked in for a flu jab next month but still waiting to hear if there is going to be a third Covid jab – a booster. I don’t think the powers that be have decided yet.

Crushed

I do feel for all those poor people at Kabul airport. Being crushed in the crowds, in the heat, with no water. I do consider myself to be very lucky.
