Sometimes there are situations and l try like crazy to understand and get my head around things but they leave me completely baffled and confused. Better l just don’t engage – much less stressful than trying to work out what I am allowed to say and what I am not allowed to say which renders me speechless.
Donald Trump
Sun 14th Jul, at 07:58 am | Deirdre | Diary
I was watching Sky News last night when they were showing Donald Trump speaking at a rally. Then suddenly there was gunfire and he reached for his ear before hitting the deck. He was safely taken away with a minor injury. Others behind where he stood weren’t so lucky.
Football
Sun 14th Jul, at 07:32 am | Deirdre | Diary
Having been born in London to Irish immigrant parents l have never felt English but have never really felt Irish neither especially since I went there and felt like a foreigner. Most of my family are Irish, most of my friends are English. So I wish England well in the football today but don’t feel it myself. But there again I prefer rugby and find myself on the side of Ireland but wouldn’t want to live there as I feel at home here.
Being me
Sat 13th Jul, at 11:08 am | Deirdre | Diary
My mind is very busy again today. I finally fell asleep last night and slept until late this morning and now that I have finished my chores I am ready to read my ‘New Statesman’ but my mind is so busy I am unable to concentrate on it. Really frustrating being me at times!
Senior moments
Fri 12th Jul, at 09:12 am | Deirdre | Diary
It’s difficult to know what to think about President Biden. It’s true that he is having more ‘senior moments’ but he seems to be reasonably okay the rest of the time. I have been known to have the odd ‘senior moment’ myself and I went to make a phone call on my television remote the other day which reminded me of my Mum doing something similar. It would be disastrous if Trump were to get in!
The Speaker
Thu 11th Jul, at 12:18 am | Deirdre | Diary
I was telling a friend that I had watched the Speaker of the Commons being approved by the House of Lords. When the Speaker followed by Members of Parliament reached the House of Lords they were greeted by bowing peers, the men taking their hats off and the women keeping their hats on, which struck me as very funny and then everyone was bowing – not just once but over and over again – very funny.
An optimist
Thu 11th Jul, at 12:11 am | Deirdre | Diary
I thought I had sorted out my sleepless nights problem by going to bed later as I have had many good nights sleep recently but tonight it didn’t work. Possibly because the news channels were full of sport and I couldn’t fall asleep watching something interesting. But I remain an optimist.
What a faff!
Wed 10th Jul, at 01:41 pm | Deirdre | Diary
There have been changes and my pharmacy are no longer ordering repeat prescriptions for people anymore – which is fine – l will just have to go back to the olden days. And I have just been told that my medication review is due which hasn’t been done for a long time. What a faff it has been! – but it’s fine.
Too difficult
Tue 9th Jul, at 10:26 am | Deirdre | Diary
It’s a great pleasure watching the new Labour government making a very enthusiastic start on sorting out the country. There’s much to be done. As a member of the Labour Party I have received an invitation to a celebration party at the Norwich Labour Party’s meeting place but it would be too difficult for me to attend.
Funny how…
Mon 8th Jul, at 07:27 am | Deirdre | Diary
I completely overslept having caught up with some of my missing sleep. I was having a lovely dream although I couldn’t quite grasp it as I woke up so I have no idea what it was about. Funny how that happens!
