My big television has been playing up – it’s not the TV but the television box that isn’t right and the picture and sound keep running at different times. So all week I have been trying to get it sorted out. I have made so many phone calls, I have turned the Wi-Fi router off and on twice and the television box off and on twice. I have checked the cables over and over. I have had one visit by the Technician but the problem has persisted. Yesterday I was talked through going into settings and adjusting something and then they made another appointment with the Technician first thing in the morning. In the meantime it’s working perfectly so I’m giving it plenty of time to go wrong instead of going to sleep.

I have received an email telling me that my new vacuum cleaner is ready for collection. My dear friend and neighbour C is kindly going to pick it up for me. Ooh how exciting!

I had to get up early this morning even though I am very tired. The window cleaner might come anytime soon and I wanted to unlock the back gate. I had a very late night last night.

I watched in awe as the rescue attempts went on for the eight people (mostly children) trapped in a cable car over Pakistan. Two of the cables had snapped and it was dangling on the remaining cable. Daylight was running out for the helicopter in the end so they went up manually and all eight were rescued. Very brave!

Having been unable to get to sleep again l came downstairs where it’s cooler. I don’t know how people in hot countries manage. I have put on the News Channel and hope to doze off on the sofa a little later.

My friend C came for lunch yesterday after the football. We ordered in a Sunday Carvery and a meat free one for her but we were not sure if things like the two pots of gravy were meat free or not as neither of them were marked. We had a good lunch though and I finished the bottle of wine before I went to bed.

I have never sat through a football match before but awhile ago I saw the women’s team play in the European Cup or whatever it was called and it was quite watchable. So I thought I would put on the Women’s World Cup final with the England team playing that is on in a little while. Well, give it a go!!

I heard a sound in the distance but I was asleep. Then again, was it the door or my mobile? Then my landline rang. It was my prescription delivery and he was outside. I got him to put it in a safe place and apologised – I didn’t think he would come until after nine. I have just brought it in!

I completely slept through my alarm this morning and so everything is running later than usual for a Friday. I have felt really weary since the news that I won’t have to move and it’s looking like it’s going to rain so I might not manage my exercise regime again today!

Everything is working out okay and I am not going to have to move because I can have a stairlift. I thought I would sleep well last night with this news but I didn’t sleep at all. Which is why I am writing this when I should be in dreamland.
