I was having lasagne for dinner and fancied some wine to go with it so I opened a bottle of red. I fully intended to have a third that night and on Saturday and on Sunday but I received a few phone calls and ended up drinking over half the bottle. I drank quite a lot of water but am suffering a bit this morning and it serves me right!

I watched the soap awards last night and, as l was still awake, sat up for Question Time. I don’t know who voted Tory but it certainly wasn’t this audience. I hear this morning that people in some parts of the country (like Kent) were woken up by an earthquake in the early hours.

Apparently the Red carpet event where they were refusing entry to women who weren’t wearing heels happened at Cannes and not USA.

As I watch TV in bed most nights and fall asleep in my glasses l have managed to make them wonky but yesterday was the first day l felt confident enough to go into the City. I got a cab both ways which got me as near as possible and walked the rest of the way to the opticians and my knee held out. I also bought a surprise for my son birthday. I am so pleased l managed it all.

Running a bit late this morning and only saw a bit of BBC breakfast. Apparently in USA they are refusing women entrance into a red carpet event unless they wear heels. Would you believe it!

There is a black cat who bullies everybody else’s. He comes in and my two just watch him eating their food and sometimes my two run away. If I head for the kitchen he usually goes out but sometimes he actually hides under the table. Ruddy cat!

I went to the Community Craft Club at the community centre. I took along all of my ‘Art Therapy Magazines’ and free gifts for everyone to see and spent my time colouring in one of the pictures. Good fun!

I often take in post for Lawrence the postman for neighbours who are not in. On Wednesday l took in a package which needed to be signed for. I stayed downstairs that night until 9.00 pm which is late for me. So I put a note through their door saying l was going upstairs and giving them my phone number. Every day l knocked on their door and waited up later than usual. On Sunday the washing showing in an upstairs window had gone so I nipped across and they were in. Apparently they had been away all week. Phew!

My sister Erin had one pregnancy and ended up with five children. Triplet girls and two stepsons who are all now grown up. One of the girls had her second baby in the early hours of Friday morning and then had to do a quick change into a bridesmaid outfit for her sister’s wedding the following day. Phew!

Hilary took me to the Café Britannia which is run by the prisoners from the local prison. It was really good and I didn’t manage to finish it – it was so big. Unfortunately, a bit later, l had a really dicky tummy and spent the rest of the afternoon and night running to the loo until I took an Imodium and managed to get to sleep around 10.00. It was a real shame.
