My son said a while back that I am the most impatient person he knows and I must admit I find waiting for change which seems really slow really difficult. I try to be patient but progress seems unbearable to wait for.

The infighting
May 12th, 2026 | Deirdre | Diary
The infighting in our Labour Party is really sad to see. I am further to the left than the Prime Minister but I have been quite happy to wait whilst the different changes start to kick in and make their mark. Some people have been knocking the PM for a long time and now this internal explosion is not really unexpected. But we have to wait and see the truth of the situation which will usually settle down and explain itself.
We will see!

I have just had a bath and washed my hair and I sit here getting ready for the day and watching Sky News. Apparently the Prime Minister is giving a speech at 10.00. If you are reading this before that then, like me, you might be wondering what it is going to be about. It could be many things. We will see!
Impossible

It’s impossible to try to clear my name without commenting but that’s the way it is. I can’t say anymore.
My family
May 10th, 2026 | Deirdre | Diary
I have had a major break with my family. Basically I won’t comment about them and they won’t comment about me. A really great weight off my shoulders, with or without solicitors. For many years my ex husband worked for Private Eye magazine and after they had commented on someone who would then lawyer up and it can carry on for a long time and become very expensive. It’s very sad that it has come to this. But I won’t say anymore.
The same lot

I wonder if it’s the same lot who voted for Brexit who voted for Reform the other day. But we live in a relatively free country which includes free speech and freedom of movement and no matter what the results l wouldn’t wish for anything else!
Sir David Attenborough

It’s Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. He always seems such a wonderful human and I wish him a wonderful time.
Thank goodness!

It’s local election day and the devolved nation’s election too. I usually end up with very little or no sleep at election time. I am usually asked to help at such times. I find it all quite exciting and, at least, interesting. Not for many others though but we are all different thank goodness!
Busy morning

My friend and helper/cleaner S coming soon. We have a busy morning planned and then a quiet afternoon. I have the start of a cold but mentally a bit stronger. Hopefully a better day today.
So lucky here!

My ex-husband had an Iranian friend years ago. She dressed like me in jeans and t-shirts. She wanted to visit home and see her family but she knew that she would have to adhere to the new dress code introduced by the then new government. Not only do the women have to cover their heads and with some their faces as well but if you showed too much ankle men with sticks would cane your legs as you walked past. We are so lucky here!
